What is the process after an application is submitted?

  1. Our HR team reviews applications to identify qualified candidates. (Please note we cannot respond to every application.)
  2. Qualified candidates are invited to do a telephone screening.
  3. The most qualified candidates will be invited to an in-person or virtual interview. Common Sense typically conducts 2 to 3 rounds of interviews in the hiring process.
  4. References will be solicited from our final candidates. (Please note that some positions will require additional background checks.)
  5. A formal written job offer will be made to our top final candidate.

Editorial Associate

San Francisco, CA; option to work remotely

The Editorial Associate is an integral part of the Editorial department, connecting the team with other work groups and staying on top of the many details required to keep the department workflow moving and the website and partners updated. The Associate serves as the department's "living index" of the consumer content library, functioning as the point person for what's covered by the Editorial team and supporting curation and promotion efforts. They also serve as the team's point person for requests and deliverables from other departments in the organization. Media Reviewer, Podcasts (Contractor)

The equity-focused podcast reviewer will use their subject-matter expertise to consume, evaluate, and write about entertainment content for parents through the lenses of child development, and diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). With excellent writing, editing, and communication skills, this contract role will produce anywhere from one to 10 new podcast reviews per month. Reporting to the Editorial Director, the YouTube Editor will research, assign, edit, and publish long-form reviews for popular/controversial YouTube channels, helping meet internal deliverables and ensuring timely, robust coverage.
